Where women win

Through the company-wide Women’s Initiatives Network (WIN), BNY Mellon fosters a global, inclusive culture of leadership and sponsorship, in which talent among women is recognised and supported. As a catalyst for change, WIN supports the advancement of women at BNY Mellon through various channels and opportunities for professional development, leadership, enhanced visibility, and greater connectivity with other employees and clients.

WIN is one of six employee resource groups (ERGs) BNY Mellon is proud to sponsor. ERGs, comprising of employees who voluntarily convene and mobilise around a shared characteristic, interest or set of experiences, increase members’ visibility inside and outside of their respective business units, express and establish employees’ unique value outside of their day-to-day work, and help deliver greater business impact.

One way in which WIN is driving greater, collective impact is through their Women in Technology group, which works to empower female technologists at BNY Mellon and in the industry.  In recognition of the company’s efforts, BNY Mellon was named the 2015 winner of the Anita Borg Institute’s Top Company for Women in Technology.


Where boundaries are broken

Sporting history was made on Saturday 11 April 2015 when the Newton Women’s Boat Race between the University boat clubs of Oxford and Cambridge competed on the same stage as their male counterparts in The Cancer Research UK Boat Races on London’s Thames River. BNY Mellon’s sponsorship of the Boat Races underscores the company’s commitment to diversity by bringing parity to world-class sport.


Where market-leading solutions are formed

BNY Mellon annually celebrates International Women’s Day (IWD) by exploring women as investors, as advisors, and as leaders. In 2016, BNY Mellon focused on women and retirement drawing upon the company’s Women: Investing With A Purpose report. The report addresses such issues as:

  • Why women on average may be poorly prepared for retirement—and how to get them back on track
  • Breaking the “conservative lock” on women's risk tolerance
  • A new goal-based approach for understanding and engaging women clients
  • Avoiding the one issue most likely to cause a woman to walk away from her advisors
